We have several gift giving options to support Saint Andrew's Abbey and the Benedictine Monks of Valyermo.
Monastery General Fund Gift
Your gifts to the general fund of the monastery support more than 20 Abbey's Benedictine monks in their daily lives of prayer and ministry as well in their ongoing education, personal development, and pastoral outreach. The general fund also takes care of the Abbey's grounds and buildings, including the retreat center, youth center and chapel, ceramics studio, and books and gifts store. Additionally, the general fund advances the Abbey's information technology infrastructure and operations.
I invite you to join us in our mission, which is the mission of the Church, to help us care for the poor and destitute who find their way to the Abbey looking for assistance, God, and hope.Even the smallest gift will make a difference in the Abbey's daily service of ministering to Christ in the poor and healing souls.Be assured of our prayers for you.
Gifts in Memory
You may wish to make a gift in honor of or in memory of a loved one
As we enter into this holy season of Lent, we are reminded of the kind of fasting the Lord desires: to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and welcome the stranger. (Isaiah 58).
The opportunities to practice this kind of fasting are varied and many here at St. Andrew’s Abbey because of the poor who come here for assistance for the basic necessities of life: food, shelter and healthcare.
Although more people have paying jobs than in the recent past, many of these are still unable to make ends meet. These are the working poor; usually unskilled laborers and low wage earners, who work hard to make a living. Unfortunately, their earnings are never enough to sustain them and their families. So they struggle to make ends meet, and many of them come to the Abbey for assistance.
For the past few years I have used the Lenten season, which is a season for almsgiving, to appeal to you for assistance on behalf of the poor who come to the Abbey. I ask first for your prayers for this important work, that the Lord alone be glorified in it. Secondly, that you prayerfully consider making a donation to our efforts in helping the poor. A donation of any amount will be of great assistance and truly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and generosity. May God be glorified in all we do.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Abbot Damien Toilolo, O.S.B.
