Fr. Isaac Kalina, O.S.B.


Fr. Isaac Kalina, O.S.B. & raised in San Pedro, California, the Port of Los Angeles, one of the cultural melting pots of Southern California. He is 5th in a family of 7 children, was educated by IHM Sisters, completed under-graduate studies at the University of Detroit with 2 Bachelor of Arts Degrees, one in Philosophy, the other from Maryglade Seminary, PIME Missionaries in Anthropology & Missiology. He began Theology at St. John Seminary, Camarillo & completed his theological training at Collegio Sant’Anselmo in Rome where he specialized in Monastic Spirituality & History. Fr. Isaac has been a Benedictine monk for 26 years & was ordained a priest in 1989. He lives, prays & works as a priest/monk at St. Andrew’s Abbey in the High Desert where he has served as Prior, Subprior, Vocation Director, Socius/formator, teacher, kitchenmaster, as Youth Center Director, Spiritual Advisor, Juniormaster, as a 12-step counselor, grief coach, chief cook & bottle washer too.
